Offer Description
This errata is a correction for notice #340. The program finance information should be: ref.ª 2024.07630.IACDC, financed by "RE-C05-i08.m04 – "Support the launch of a program of R&D projects aimed at the development and implementation of advanced cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and data science systems in public administration, as well as a scientific training program", of the Recovery and Resilience Plan – PRR, under the financing contract signed between the Recover Portugal Mission Structure (EMRP) and the Foundation for Science and Technology I.P. (FCT), as an intermediate beneficiary.
Work Plan:
The work to be developed is part of a research line focused on predicting high utilization ofhealthcare services (High Utilizers – HU) within the ULS Almada-Seixal, using clinical data andmachine learning algorithms.
The main activities include:
Data Processing:
• Supporting the organization and cleaning of clinical databases.
• Participating in data quality analysis and preparation of variables for modeling. Support for AIModel Development:
• Collaborating on the training of predictive models under the supervision of the scientific team.
• Learning and applying model performance evaluation methods (e.g., precision, recall).
• Assisting in the documentation and analysis of model results. Support for Integration into a DigitalTool:
• Collaborating on the design of simple interfaces for visualizing predictive model results.
• Participating in meetings with the technical and clinical teams to discuss improvements and newfunctionalities.
Workplace:
The work will be carried out at the Laboratory of Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, andRadiation Physics of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at NOVA University Lisbon, under thescientific supervision of Professor Luís Miguel Silva and Professor Ana Rita Londral. Thecontracting entity is NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT.
Fellowship duration:
The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, with a planned start date of May 2025. Thescholarship contract may potentially be renewed within the duration of the project.

Recipients profile/category:
This scholarship is intended for candidates who wish to carry out research activities at the R&DUnits LIBPhys or at associated host institutions. Mandatory Requirements A Bachelor's degree inBiomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.
Candidates must be enrolled in a study cycle that may or may not lead to an academic degree at aHigher Education Institution.´
For candidates holding a Bachelor's degree obtained from foreign higher education institutions, it isrequired to present proof of recognition of the academic degree by a Portuguese higher educationinstitution and the conversion of the final grade to the Portuguese grading scale. Alternatively, asigned declaration by the candidate stating that they will obtain such recognition by the end of theapplication period is acceptable. Permanent and habitual residence in Portugal is required for bothnational and foreign citizens.
Preferred Criteria
The selection process will give preference to candidates with interest and/or experience in thefollowing areas:
a) Knowledge of machine learning techniques, with an interest in exploring algorithms such asregression, decision trees, Random Forests, and neural networks.
b) Basic programming experience in Python and familiarity with libraries such as pandas, numpy, orscikit-learn.
c) Interest in processing and analyzing clinical or biomedical data.
d) Motivation to learn and apply methods of explainable artificial intelligence (Explainable AI).
e) Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team.
f) Good command of technical English, particularly in reading scientific literature.

Additional Information
Monthly maintenance allowance amount:
The scholarship amount is €1,040,98, in accordance with the table of values for scholarshipsdirectly awarded by FCT, I.P., in Portugal. Payment will be made monthly via bank transfer.
Selection criteria:
The defined selection criteria are as follows:
a) Quality of the CV and relevance to the specific research area mentioned in this call forapplications (Score from 1 to 20) (60%).
b) Quality of the motivation letter and summary of the scientific background (Score from 1 to 20)(30%);
c) Quality of the interview (Score from 1 to 20) (10%).
An interview will be conducted only with candidates who obtain a combined score higher than 14 incriteria a) and b).
Candidates will be ranked according to their total score, calculated as the sum of the individualscores.

The draft jury evaluation decision will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for submittingapplications, via email, providing access to the minutes and the provisional ranking list. Afternotification, candidates will have 10 working days to express their opinion on the draft decision, in aprior hearing of interested parties, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Procedure.
